How do I obtain equipment for a class?
If your classroom does not already have the equipment you need, you can reserve it from IT-Media Services using our on line form. Equipment is delivered directly to the classroom and picked up after. Please reserve at least 48 hours in advance.

Why do you need 48 hours advance notice?
We make dozens of deliveries each day, so our schedules must be developed in advance to ensure availability and coordinate labor.

Can I request one piece of equipment for the entire semester?
Not usually, as we do not have enough equipment to take one piece out of our mobile pool for the whole semester. If you need certain equipment all of the time, we recommend that you consult the Registrar about moving your class to a permanently equipped room.

I need to video tape a class session, how do I go about doing that?
IT-Media Services has some VHS camcorders that are on rolling carts that can be reserved for in-class use. These camcorders use full-size VHS tapes, so you or your student can take the tape immediately after recording. We do not provide operators for in-class taping.
If you need to record a lecture because you will not be able to be present, simply arrange to come to our television studio in Knobview 014 and our technicians can do that for you.

Where can I get help with a PowerPoint presentation?

For help with creating your classroom materials, we highly recommend the folks at the Institute for Learning & Teaching Excellence (ILTE). They're pros at helping faculty create effective presentations.

I am using an LCD projector, but all I see is a blue screen with a 'no signal' message. What do I do?
This means the projector is set on the wrong source.
If the projector is mounted on the ceiling, look at the touch pad on the desk. Touch the icon that matches the equipment you want to see, e.g. VCR, DVD or desktop computer.
If the projector is a mobile cart, then there are 2 button arrangements, depending on the model of projector.
1. The first arrangement has a button labeled 'input'. Touch that button and wait a few seconds. If the correct image does not appear, touch it again until it does appear.
2. The second arrangement has 2 buttons labeled 'computer' and 'video'. If projecting the computer, touch the 'computer' button.
If projecting a VCR or DVD, touch the 'video' button.
In either case, if the image does not appear in a few seconds, touch the appropriate button again until the correct image does appear.

I can't get to the internet or my network drive. What should I do?
If this is a mobile computer and projector unit, try logging out, then logging in again. If you get an error message while logging in, click the 'redial' button several times.
If it still does not work properly, call Jeff at 2259, or Robert or Doug at 2495.
